Blogs and Blogging
Thousands upon thousands of websites today have a blog, and they are becoming nothing but a standard addition to every website. Blogs are growing in popularity with every day, and there are many reasons why. First off, what is a blog?
Blogs
To put it simply, a blog is an application or software integrated into a website that allows the blogger to post... anything! Now, let's say you just loved to fish, placate me here. As we all well know, fish stories tend to, how shall I say it, grow with time. Let's say you just had to let everyone know about that foot long trout you caught last week. Well, a blog would most definitely achieve this! In a matter of minutes, you could type up a simple little page about your amazing feat and have it published and on your website within no time at all! Oh, and here's the great part: you can edit a blog post, so when the fish somehow becomes two feet long it's no problem making sure that the blog reflects the truth.
Blogs are simply amazing applications and, in a sense, can serve as a personal journal. Now, not only are blogs used to post personal information, but many blogs are used for professional purposes as well. Here's another example, however a bit more far-fetched, let's say I'm a world renowned web application developer. I am able to develop top of the line web applications and sell them for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Life's great, right? Well, a blog could serve as a great way for me to post information about why I'm so successful, or possibly just giving tips to all those web application developers in-training out there, like myself. There are many people who use blogs in this sense, and it is most definitely not an uncommon thing.
Integration
Like I said earlier, blogs can be integrated directly into a website so that they mesh perfectly with a website's design and layout. Now, maybe you're wondering what something like a blog would cost? Well, no fear because thanks to the wonderfully kind and charitable web community, there are multiple open source freeware blogging applications and engines for individuals like yourself to take advantage of. A great example of this would be WordPress, a free blogging application and engine. Obviously, as the software is free it's not too expensive at all. The only extra cost included in having something like a blog integrated into your website would be the time spent actually integrating it. This is a bit tedious and time consuming, but it's not really all too bad at all, especially for something like a great blogging application and engine!
